JACKSON, Miss. – A pair of Prairie View A&M volleyball players finished with double-digit kill figures on Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't enough as the team fell to Texas Southern, 3-1 in the semifinals of the SWAC Tournament.
Â
"It was most definitely was a learning experience for us," said head PVAMU volleyball coach
TaCho Tyler. "We came a lot further then we had been in a while, so I am proud of the girls. This is one of those games that you just have to come ready to play. We made some uncharacteristic mistakes after we won the first match."
Â
Senior
Taylor Goudeau totaled 15 kills, six digs and two block assists. Freshman
Victoria Pearson tallied 11 kills, two digs, and three blocks.
Â
Junior
Christen Augustine had a team-high of 30 digs to lead both teams, finishing the season with a total of 440 digs for the season, only 13 digs short of 1,000 for her career. Â
Sommer Gonzales led the team in assists, handing out a game high of 27.
Â
"I think our girls played well," said Tyler. "I wasn't quite ready for our season to end like this, but getting further then we have been is a difference and I am proud of these young ladies."
