BOX SCORE JACKSON, Miss. – The Prairie View A&M University women's basketball team lost at Jackson State 74-60 Saturday afternoon at the Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.
Alexus Parker led all scorers with a game-high 19 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Panthers (8-15, 3-8).
La'Sha Haynes scored 12 points with a team-high nine rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
Tori Carter also scored 12 points with three rebounds and three assists.
Prairie View A&M got off to a slow start but battled back throughout the contest. After trailing by as many as 17 in the first half, the Lady Panthers closed strong to end the first half. They reeled off eight straight points as part of a 20-6 run over a nine+ minute stretch from the second quarter into the early third. A layup by Carter cut the deficit to 34-31 with 8:18 to play in the third quarter.
Jackson State (8-14, 2-10) pushed the lead back to double figures before the Lady Panthers cut the deficit again in the fourth quarter. Prairie View A&M trailed by as little as four points in the final period, the final time on a Carter jumper to trail only 58-54 with just over seven minutes to play but could get no closer.
