PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M University Volleyball team will travel to Beaumont, Texas to face Lamar University in its final nonconference game before opening conference play Friday.
 
The Lady Panthers will enter Tuesday's game 0-3, falling to the University of Houston 3-0 in their last contest with the scores of 25-16, 25-21, and 25-20.  PVAMU volleyball came into the season with inexperience at some key positions, and are learning how to play with one another and are now beginning to show signs of what they are capable of after missing the first two weeks of play.
 
Several players are elevating their play of late, including senior Taylor Goudeau and sophomore Larissa Martinez.  Outside hitter Goudeau is leading the team in kills with 28 out of nine sets played, averaging 3.11 kills per set, while Martinez is second on the team with 17 kills. 
 
Mykaeli Franklin and Erica Jimenez handles the assist for the Lady Panthers.  Franklin is in her first season at the starting role, she has started to run PVAMU's offense with more consistency as has gotten more comfortable with her position.  A converted outside hitter she has dished out 41 assists thus far on the season posting a career high of 17 during the HBU game in the opening game of the season.  Jiminez is the second handler for the Lady Panthers dishing out a season high of 37 assists averaging 4.11 assists in her nine set appearance. 
 
Prairie View A&M will need strong performances across the board Tuesday, beginning with the first set starting at 7 p.m. at McDonald Gym.
