Volleyball Drops Two Matches at SWAC East Roundup

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Prairie View A&M volleyball team fell to Alabama A&M 3-1 and dropped a five set thriller to Mississippi Valley State 3-2.

"Latrice Brown had an amazing day," said head PVAMU volleyball coach TaCho Tyler. "Again, we didn't play to our potential. We have to just move past today and get through the weekend.  We are going to have to improve our play.  Our setters were off sync today and that's unusual for them.  Tomorrow is another day."

Game One
Brown led the offense for the Lady Panthers with 14 kills, while junior Cetara Carter added 10 in the 3-1 loss to AAMU.  Junior Erica Jimenez dished out a team high 19 assists, with freshman Joycelyn Nunez tossing out 12.  Tamaira Armstrong led the charge on the defensive side of the ball with a season high 18 digs.
 
Game Two
In game two PVAMU fell 3-2 to the Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State in a five set thriller by the scores of 25-18,11-25, 25-27, 25-14, 13-15.

Brown again paced the Lady Panthers offense with 17 kills, while Jaylan Thomas added 13 kills in the game.  Senior Christen Augustine led the team defensively with 18 digs.  Nunez dished out a game high 18 assists.

The Lady Panthers will return to action Saturday morning against defending SWAC Champion Alabama State for a 10a.m. first set and then close the day with a night cap against Jackson State at 7 p.m.
