LEBANON, Ill. --The Prairie View A&M University bowling team opened the 2018-19 season at the McKendree Hammer Open for a three day event finishing 11
th overall on day one of the event at the St. Clair Bowl.

Prairie View has three returners from the 2017-18 squad. The team is spearheaded by senior
Alexes Burton, who was awarded Second Team All-SWAC Conference for the 2017-2018 season and was ranked 7
th overall in conference. Redshirt junior
Jada Davis and sophomore
Kayla Marsh will assist Burton as the other experienced bowlers on the lanes.

The six newcomers are all freshmen to include

Shirley Kennebrew,
Sonja Ortiz,
Ivelisse Reyes,
Asia Wren and
Sarah YoungThe Lady Panthers finished with a 3-2 record and a total pin count 4,382.  PVAMU opened play to Lewis University 974-869 in bakers.  In match two Prairie View faced 4th-ranked Arkansas State by a slim pin margin of 849-827.
Bakers match three is where the Lady Panthers picked up their first win of the day over Kentucky Wesleyan winning with a pin fall count of 909-858.  PV continued their win streak when they faced North Central College (Ill.) with a 878-767 pin fall. Â
In their final match of the day PVAMUÂ knocked off Lincoln University by the scores of 899-747 to conclude the first day.
