GRAMBLING, La. -- It took five tough sets to ground the Prairie View A&M volleyball team, but Grambling came out on top Tuesday night, 3-2.
Set scores were 17-25, 16-25, 25-18, 25-13, 5-15.
"We played a lot better tonight," head PVAMU volleyball coach
TaCho Tyler said. "We need to continue to execute basic volleyball fundamentals, because the game plan has not changed since the beginning of the season."
The Lady Panthers headed into the third set down 0-2, but in true comeback fashion, PVAMU developed a swing in momentum and took the third and fourth sets to win the match.
PVAMU was led by four players with double figures.
Tamaira Armstrong led the offensive charge with 15 kills. Cetara Carter chipped in 13 kills, while
Jaylan Thomas added 11 and
Victoria Pearson knocked down 10 kills.
Armstrong posted her first double-double of the season with 15digs.
Christen Augustine had a team high of 27 digs.
Erica Jimenez dished out a season high 29 assists, while Jaelyn Oakes added a career high 16 assists.
Prairie View took sets three and four in commanding fashion. The Lady Panthers had an attack percentage of .447 in set three. In set four, PV had a near flawless performance, going 19 for 39 with just one error, swinging .462, a season high.
PVAMU volleyball returns to action Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m., as the Lady Panthers will host Texas Southern at the PVAMU Rec Center.
