PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - The Prairie View A&M volleyball team will get a second chance as they host cross town rival Texas Southern on Thursday in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.
The Lady Panthers will face TSU Thursday at the Rec. Center for a 6:30 p.m. first set, with a live video stream at pvpanthers.com/sportsnetwork.
"The team will need to continue its momentum from set three and four from Tuesday's matchup against Grambling to pull off a win vs. TSU," said head PVAMU volleyball coach
TaCho Tyler. "If they don't want their fate in someone else's hand then these next two matches, we need to come out and get wins."
With the 2018 season wrapping up
Christen Augustine has climbed her way into the PVAMU record books as an all-time leader in digs. She has surpassed previous PVAMU leader Shannon Harrison (1,311), who played during the 2004-2008. Augustine has 1,391 career digs thus far.
The Lady Panthers sit in eighth place in conference play with an overall record of 5-24 and are 5-10 in conference play. As a team, PVAMU is fifth in the conference in assist averaging 9.89 assist per game. They are also fifth in kills with an average of 10.67 per set, while they are third in digs averaging 13.55 digs per set.
Outside hitter
Jaylan Thomas is the Lady Panthers largest contributor in the kill category. Thomas averages 2.48 kills per set, while Augustine is fourth in the conference averaging 3.36 digs per set in the back court for PVAMU.
Erica Jimenez and
Joycelyn Nunez continue to split time at the setter position. Jimenez is averaging 4.17 assists per set, while Nunez averages 3.61 assists per set on the season.
