PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M University volleyball team will travel to Arkansas Pine Bluff to take on the Lady Golden Lions at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 8 in Pine Bluff, Ark.
"We got a chance to see UAPB at the round up," PVAMU head volleyball coach
TaCho Tyler said. "The SWAC is pretty much well rounded, pretty much the same teams, with the exception of Alabama A&M. Every team is pretty much on the same level. Our offense is going to be the key to if we win or lose tomorrow night. We will finish out the first half of the conference schedule and get prepared for the East SWAC Round up in Huntsville, Ala."
The Lady Panthers are looking to rebound after falling to Texas Southern 3-1 last Thursday. PVAMU will be looking to build off the strong performances from middles
Victoria Pearson,
Latrice Brown and outside hitter Cetara Carter. Combined they tallied 36 kills in the match against TSU.
Jaylan Thomas continues to lead the Lady Panthers offensively, with 169 kills on the season. She is averaging 2.64 kills per set, while tallying 141 digs the ranks her second on the team with a 2.20 dig per set average. Defensively, senior libero
Christen Augustine leads the way, averaging 3.91 digs, which is the best in the league.
To get past the Lady Golden Lions, the Lady Panthers will need to see the best from every position on the court. PVAMU has been seeing time from both junior setters
Erica Jimenez,
Alyssa Cataldo and freshman setter
Joycelyn Nunez. Each has been doing an efficient job of distributing the ball.
"The setters have been doing a good job getting the ball to the hitters," said Tyler. "They have giving an all-around performance and I expect them to continue getting the ball where it needs to be. We just need our offense to step up."
