BOULDER, Col. -- The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team fell to Colorado 79-38 on Wednesday night at the CU Events Center.

PVAMU took an early 4-2 lead in the first quarter. The teams then tied twice in the opening minutes, before the Panthers found themselves behind 19-8 in the closing seconds of the period.

The Panthers found themselves digging a deeper hole in the second quarter, trailing 33-10 at the 5:26 mark. Trailing 40-12 at the intermission.

Things began to pick up for the team in the third quarter, but they were still unable to make a sizable run. PVAMU then went into the fourth quarter at a 63-25 deficit, and they ended up falling 79-38 in the final minutes of the game.

Senior guard
Shala Dobbins led the team with nine points and two rebounds, while junior guard
Dominique Newman followed behind with seven points, four steals, one assist, one rebound and one block.Â
Artavia Ford had a season high four blocks, and
Ke'Asia Williams had an impressive night on the glass with 12 rebounds.
The Panthers will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 16 as they face Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas at 2 p.m.
