HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Prairie View A&M softball team put on a hitting clinic in SWAC doubleheader action against Alabama A&M as it earned a 11-1 decision in game one and a 12-0 five inning victory at the Lady Bulldog Field to close out the three game series.
Game 1
PVAMU 11, AAMU 1
Game one of the doubleheader started with both pitchers keeping out of trouble in the first three innings, but in the top of the fourth PVAMU put together two runs, using two hits and two Lady Bulldog errors to take a 2-0 lead.
Alyssa Garcia started the scoring with a RBI single that plated
Destinee Williams, and
Laurisa Hernandez followed suit to bring home pinch-runner
Alexis Freeman.
In the sixth,
Day'Zjah Pennywell put one out of the park for PVAMU to push their lead to 3-0, Alabama A&M returned the favor and put on the board. The Lady Panthers pulled away in the seventh with an eight-run inning sparked by a
Kylar Ward-Flowers two-run blast and subsequently aided by three more Alabama A&M errors.
Hernandez and Pennywell each had three hits, and
Kelsey Coronado led all players with four hits. D. Williams had two RBI and scored two runs.

Crystal Castillo earned her first win of the season, striking out eight in a complete-game effort.
Game 2
PVAMU 12, AAMU 0
PVAMU picked up right where they left off in game one as it put up four runs on two hits and two errors to jump out to an early 4-0 lead.
Garcia blasted a three-run homer for the Lady Panthers. D. Williams and Ward-Flowers each picked up two-run singles in the second inning to add to the lead, and in the third inning,
Amanda Ford scored on a wild pitch and D. Williams delivered a two-run single to left to make the game 11-0 after just three frames.
PVAMU added one more run in the top of the fifth to place the final finishes on the game closing out the game from there, as
Vannessa Castro threw a three-hit shutout to earn the win. D. Williams was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and five RBI.
