Panthers Lose Final Non-Conference Game At UNLV

LAS VEGAS – The Prairie View A&M football team lost at UNLV 46-17 at Sam Boyd Stadium.

Trailing 34-0 at halftime, the Panthers scored 17 straight points, including back-to-back possessions in the third quarter.

CB Jaylen Harris intercepted a pass for the second straight week in the third quarter to setup the first points for PVAMU. A 33-yard pass from Jalen Morton to Tristen Wallace led to a four-yard scoring pass from Morton to Wallace to get the Panthers on the board with 5:38 to play in the period.

On the next UNLV possession, Ju'Anthony Parker blocked a UNLV field goal attempt. From the Rebels' 43, it took only two plays to score. A 30-yard run by Dawonya Tucker set up a 13-yard scoring pass from Morton to Zarrian Holcombe to cut the deficit to 34-14 with less than two minutes to play in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, PVAMU drove 88 yards in 10 plays, highlighted by a 61-yard catch and run by Kalen Riles. Zach Elder's 28-yard field goal cut the Panthers' deficit in half, but they could get no closer.

Riles tied a career high with four receptions for a career-high 134 yards. Tucker rushed 12 times for 61 yards, and Morton passed for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Jermaine Jackson made a career-high 13 tackles.
