The Prairie View A&M football team returns to action Saturday in a 6 p.m. game at #4-ranked Sam Houston.
The game can be viewed live online on ESPN+, a subscription-based online platform and the same network PVAMU played Rice on Aug. 25. The Panther Sports Network radio broadcast begins with Countdown To Kickoff at 5:30 p.m. online at pvpanthers.com/sportsnetwork, with the latest news prior to kickoff, news and information around the SWAC, and interviews with junior CB
Ju'Anthony Parker and HC
Eric Dooley. At halftime as part of the Panther Sports Spotlight, women's track and field coach
Angela Williams will be interviewed.
Coming off Sunday's 40-24 win over North Carolina Central in the MEAC/SWAC, the Panthers will look to post back-to-back wins in 2018.
"I thought we had a great week of practice," Dooley said. "The guys prepared well. They understand what we are looking for and how to prepare. I'm excited for them. They've shown a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of effort, and I'm very pleased. We just have to continue to work and stay focused."
While this will be the third game of the season for Panthers' football, it is the season opener for Sam Houston. The two teams met last year at Panther Stadium, with the Bearkats winning 44-31. Sam Houston went on to advance to the FCS Semifinals last season in posting a 12-2 record and is the second-winningest team in FCS football since 2011 with 80 wins over the past seven years, ranking only behind North Dakota State's 98 victories.
"It's a challenge for us," Dooley said. "However, that's what we want to do. We accept all challenges. We understand what's at stake, and we understand who we are facing. I keep saying and your guys believe it – we're a good football team as well and are excited about the opportunity."
