Women's Basketball Kicks Off Two Game Road Trip Saturday at Miss. Valley

ITTA BENA, Miss.  - The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team will hit the road for a two-game stretch playing Miss. Valley State, Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. and the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff on Monday night at 5:30 p.m.

This marks the 78th meeting between the Panthers and Miss. Valley State.  Valley holds a 47-30 all-time series lead, but PVAMU has won the last nine out of ten games dating back to the 2013 season.  The last showdown between these two squads was at the Harrison HPER Complex, when the Panthers edged by the Devilettes 75-74. 
 
Prairie View A&M (6-9, 3-2) will look to rebound as they head to Itta Bena, Miss., after falling to Grambling in a 64-63 heartbreak.  Senior Shala Dobbins on the season, is averaging 13 points per game, while senior Artavia Ford is averaging 10.7 on the season.  Dominique Newman is doing her part as well, as she is averaging 8.3 ppg.
 
The Devilettes (3-13, 2-3) are led by Lakendra Bassett and Kristy Parker.  Bassett is averaging 11.5 ppg, while Parker is averaging 11.1.  Miss. Valley dropped a 74-67 loss to Southern on Monday night in Baton Rouge, La.
