BOX SCORE

NORMAN, Okla. - The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team was unable to sustain a strong start during a 94-48 loss to Oklahoma during the opening round of the 2019 Preseason WNIT Friday evening at the Lloyd Noble Center.

The Panthers (0-1) kept pace with the Sooners early on, matching them point-for-point. After senior forward Mariah Campbell buried a trey to put Prairie View A&M ahead 11-8 with 5:44 to go, however, Oklahoma responded with back-to-back three-pointers from Taylor Robinson to pull ahead by three.

The Panthers drew within one on a jumper from freshman Diana Rosenthal, but from that point endured a near eight-minute scoring drought that carried over into the second quarter. Oklahoma capitalized with an 18-0 run that left the Panthers facing a 31-13 deficit with 8:25 left in the half.

Senior Tatyana Perez knocked down a pair from beyond the arc to key an 8-2 run that brought the Panthers within 12, but the Sooners outscored PVAMU 15-4 over the remainder of the half, resulting in an ultimately insurmountable deficit as the contest progressed.

Perez led the Panthers with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting, but the Panthers were limited to a 27.9 percent shooting clip (19-of-68) from the floor.

Robertson led the Sooners with 20 points.
