12/16/2019 6:34:00 PM

PRAIRIE VIEW - Prairie View A&M women's basketball has entered the final stretch of its non-conference slate, and next up for the Panthers is a quick trip to Lubbock to face off against Texas Tech.

The Panthers (2-7) tangle with the Lady Raiders Tuesday at noon from the United Supermarkets Arena.

Prairie View A&M looks to shake off a disappointing 77-55 loss at Rice from this past Sunday. Senior and leading scorer Bernesha Peters scored 16 points to pace the Panther offense, and freshman Diana Rosenthal added 11 points and a pair of steals.

Peters is averaging 10.1 points per game and also leads the team in assists and steals per game 2.8 and 2.0, respectively. Freshman Kennedy Paul has shown flashes in her maiden season on the Hill, standing second on the team in scoring (9.1 points per game) and rebounding (4.4 rebounds per game). Senior Ke'Asia Williams leads the effort on the glass at 6.1 boards a night.

This will be the third meeting in the past four seasons with the Lady Raiders. The Panthers are 0-2 in the previous meetings. The most recent contest was an 89-60 outcome in favor of Texas Tech on Dec. 13, 2017.

Scouting the Competition:
- Texas Tech is off to a strong 7-0 start and is one of 14 remaining undefeated teams in the nation -- one of two in the Big 12 Conference. The Lady Raiders have made the most of friendly confines, with five wins coming at home. Nine of Texas Tech's first 11 contests of the season will be on its home court.

- The Lady Raiders are averaging better than 80 points per game. Forward Brittany Brewer leads the way, pacing Texas Tech in scoring (17.4) and rebounding (11.3) average this year. Brewer has been a defensive force as she's accounted for 39 of Texas Tech's 44 blocked shots on the season, good for a 5.6 nightly average.

- Guard Alexis Tucker is also averaging a double-double with 16 points and 10.1 boards per game. In all, the Lady Raiders have four players averaging double-figures in scoring.
