ARLINGTON, Texas - The Prairie View A&M softball team dropped their first game of the UTA Maverick Tournament 2-1 against host team UT Arlington at the Alan Saxe Softball Stadium on Friday.
The Lady Panthers got on the board first in their half of the top of the second. A home run hit to center field by senior
Laurisa Hernandez gave PVAMU their lone score.
Prairie View A&M was able to get on base in top of the third inning, but wasn't unable to capitalize on both sides of the ball as UT Arlington posted two runs to close out the inning.
Both teams went scoreless in the final four innings before PV took the 2-1 loss.
Junior
Crystal Castillo allowed only three hits and striking out one player for the day. Hernandez led the team with three hits.
The Lady Panthers will start off day two of the tournament when they face Abilene Christian, Saturday, Feb. 23 for a 10 a.m. first pitch. The team will also play host team UT Arlington for the second time, at 3 p.m.
