ARLINGTON, Texas – The Prairie View A&M bowling team finished in 11th place as they closed out the final day of the Prairie View A&M Invitational at the ITRC on Sunday.
"You would think it is hard to find fault when you are able to get three wins in the tournament against top ten teams," Head PVAMU bowling Coach
Glenn White said. "But the reality is we would have won more matches if we didn't spare so poorly. The good thing is its correctable and we will continue to do so. I am encouraged by other improvements that are showing in the team's performance. The high level of competition could have been a little eye opening on the first day, but they began to settle down except for the spares."
The team finished out the tournament with a 948-930 win over 10
th-ranked Stephen F. Austin, and ended with an overall 3-8 record.
Senior
Alexes Burton finished in 18th place overall in the individual standings with a total pin fall of 1,175. Freshman
Crystal Cline claimed the high game trophy after rolling a 277 game.
"We will have a short turn around and prepare for our next tournament in Orlando this coming weekend," White said. "I am extremely proud of the continued great play of Alexes finishing 18th overall individually and
Crystal Cline finishing with the high game trophy of the tournament with a 277 game. She has been solid in the role of the anchor position as has Alexes in the leadoff spot."
Next, the team will compete in the Sunshine State Winter Classic starting on Friday, Feb. 8 in Orlando, Fla.
