DALLAS — Prairie View A&M men's tennis team dropped a heated 7-0 contest with Northern Colorado Friday at the Southern Methodist University Tennis Complex.
During doubles play, the Panthers fell just short in a pair of matches that could have gone either way. The tandem of senior
Xavier Lawrence and sophomore Jorge Caballero narrowly dropped a 7-5 decision, and juniors
Rodrigo Yoshikata and
Kevin Ugarteche fell by an identical score in their match.
The Panthers were more than up to the task in singles play, but weren't quite able to push through. Lawrence, Caballero and freshman
Juan Malham Viada each fought to three-set contests but faltered in the decisive frames.
Yoshikata and Ugarteche weren't able to get on track in their respective matches, falling in two-set affairs.
Next Up:
Prairie View A&M will return to action for a doubleheader against Louisiana-Lafayette Jan. 20.
