PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M women's bowling team will conclude the fall portion of its 2020-21 season this weekend at the TRACK Kat Klash at the Time 2 Spare Entertainment bowling alley in Conroe, Texas.
"I'm very excited to see how the team performs this coming weekend," said Head Bowling Coach Glenn White. "It will give us a great opportunity to gage our improvement from the last event. We've put in some good work during practice and hopefully we can finish this fall semester of competition on a high note."
This weekend's event will feature five teams and three NTCA pre-season ranked teams: host Sam Houston State (5), Vanderbilt (2), Louisiana Tech (9), Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern.
Earlier in the month the Lady Panthers participated in the La. Tech Invite, finishing sixth. PVAMU finished the weekend with a 3-4 record, while sophomore Patricia Rosales led the team through the tournament, finishing eighth in individual standings with an average of 200.75. She posted three games of 200 or better. In all, three PVAMU student-athletes finished in the top 20 for individual standings: Rosales, freshman Cheyenne Washington (16th; 187.75 average) and junior Crystal Cline (18th; 186 average).
The TRACK Kat Klash has previously been a much larger tournament usually held in Houston, but amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and its resultant precautions and protocols, host Sam Houston State was able to secure this field of five. Prairie View A&M has attended the event every year since 2011.
The format will be a little different than usual in the two-day tournament. There will be five, 5-Game Baker matches beginning at 8:15 a.m. Friday and five team games Saturday starting at 8 a.m. The final standings will be determined by total pinfall over the two days.
