CUT AND SHOOT, Texas – The Prairie View A&M bowling team picked up an impressive win over No. 5 Sam Houston State to highlight an uneven first day of competition at the TRACK Kat Klash at the Time to Spare Entertainment bowling alley Friday.
The Lady Panthers split their Baker matches with a 2-2 record and a total pin fall of 4,440 in the five-team event, good for fourth in team standings.
"The team was a little inconsistent with their performance today," Head Bowling Coach Glenn White said. "We had a good win against Sam Houston State, but my concern is about our being able to perform to our abilities consistently (win or lose) and we're not there yet. We'll see if we improve on that tomorrow."
PVAMU opened the day with an 854-976 loss to No. 9 La. Tech, before sliding by the host Bearkats 929-920. The Lady Panthers could not find their footing against No. 2 Vanderbilt, falling 762-1,012 in their third match of the day. PVAMU prevailed with a 927-855 win over SWAC arch-rival Texas Southern to end on a high note.
Prairie View will look to conclude the TRACK Kat Klash strong on Saturday when they compete in five traditional matches beginning at 8:15 a.m.
