La Tech 20 Day One

Lady Panthers Down Trio of Ranked Teams on Day One of La Tech Invite

11/6/2020 11:24:00 PM

RUSTON, La.  – After a nine-month layoff, the Prairie View A&M women's bowling team had a strong first day of the La. Tech Invite, winning three out of four matches on Friday at the Lambright Sports and Wellness Center.

"As a coach you're never satisfied but I'm proud of how the team competed today on some tough lane conditions," said PVAMU Head Bowling Coach Glenn White. "I'm encouraged by the fact that I know as a team we can improve on our performance today but overall, I'm pleased with today's results."

PVAMU captured wins from three top 25 teams in No. 7 Stephen F. Austin (907-835), No. 21 UAB (910-870), and No. 19 Tulane (917-810) falling to No. 5 Sam Houston State (892-928) earlier in the day during the Baker games.

The Lady Panthers return to lanes with a 1:30 p.m. start against host team La. Tech, which is unusual for PVAMU. With a small field of just seven teams and no fans due to the COVID-19 protocols, Saturday morning play has a different look. The ladies will finish traditional play against No. 2 Vanderbilt at 3:30 p.m., prior to the 4:30 p.m. position rounds.
