RUSTON, La.  – The Prairie View A&M women's bowling team dropped a pair of hotly-contested matches during day two of the La. Tech Invite Saturday at the Lambright Sports and Wellness Center, falling to fifth in tournament standings.

"This was a day of mixed emotions. It was good to see the team compete the way they did today, but it was very disappointing to miss opportunities to win very meaningful games that were winnable," said PVAMU Head Bowling Coach Glenn White. "We have to keep working hard and learn how to win these matches and not let them slip away. We'll try to finish strong tomorrow and use this experience to make us better."

PVAMU began its day with a tough loss to host team and ninth-ranked Louisiana Tech 928-970. The Lady Panthers rebounded with a valiant effort against perennial bowling power Vanderbilt, battling the No. 2 Commodores to a 949-949 tie. However, Vanderbilt prevailed 95-85 in a roll-off to steal the victory.

Patricia Rosales has paced the Lady Panthers through the tournament with three games of 200 or better. She sits eighth in individual standings with an average of 200.75. Freshman Cheyenne Washington has impressed and is 16th in individual standings with an 187.75 average score. Crystal Cline is also inside the top 20 individual ranks with an 186 mean through four games.

The Lady Panthers return to the lanes with a 7 a.m. start Sunday against Louisiana Tech's JV team, with the winner advancing to face the winner of the Tulane/UAB matchup at 8:30 a.m.
