Women's Hoops looks to get back on track vs. Texas Southern

PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team (1-4, 0-2) looks to get back on track versus Texas Southern in a pivotal Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. Monday from the Baby Dome. 

Last Time Out: 
> The Panthers sputtered offensively in setbacks to Southern (51-44) and Alcorn State (55-48) to begin league play. Kennedi Heard notched the second double-double of her career with an 11-point, 10-rebound effort at Southern, and Tiffany Tullis posted the first double-double of her Panthers career versus the Lady Braves with 16 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. 

Storylines to Watch: 
> The Panthers look to halt a four-game skid on the season. They'll likely have to rely on its defense to do so, as Prairie View A&M has the top scoring defense in the SWAC at 61.2 points allowed per game this season.
. 
> Tullis has emerged as one of the top freshmen players in the conference with recent efforts. Ranking second on the team in scoring at 9.4 points per game, she leads the Panthers in rebounding at 6.8 boards a night. Sophomore Diana Rosenthal continues to set the tone offensively, averaging 12.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 40 percent from three.

> PVAMU is 2-1 in its past three home games versus Texas Southern. 

Scouting the Opponent: 
> Texas Southern enters the contest at 1-1 on the season and has not played a game since Dec. 21. This contest is set to serve as the team's SWAC opener.

> The Lady Tigers have flashed an explosive offense early this season, leading the conference in scoring at 73 points per game. Ataiya Bridges is off to an impressive start, averaging 25 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals a game. On the inside, Niya Mitchell will be the top option as she averages 15.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals a game.

> Texas Southern has found notable success from beyond the arc, shooting 40.6 percent from long-range as a team.
