Panthers unable to get on track versus Jackson State

1/16/2021 6:00:00 PM

BOX SCORE PRAIRIE VIEW – Prairie View A&M women's basketball (1-6, 0-4 SWAC) fell in Southwestern Athletic Conference action versus Jackson State (5-5, 4-1 SWAC) 63-45 Saturday afternoon at the Baby Dome.

How it Happened:
Following a quick bucket from Kennedi Heard, the Panthers offense went quiet as the Lady Tigers jumped ahead 12-2 within the early goings of the game. Undeterred, the Panthers reeled off seven points in 45 seconds to get within a basket as the quarter came to a close, but late free throws left PVAMU down 15-10 at the end of one.

Rosenthal managed to bring the Panthers within a possession of the Lady Tigers, but consecutive threes by Dayzsha Rogan, who scored 12 points in the frame, helped spark a 10-2 run that pushed the Panthers' deficit to 12 at intermission.

Tiffany Tullis and Rosenthal attempted to spark a comeback in the third, but the Panthers were unable to break Jackson State's grip on the matter as a six-minute scoring drought allowed the deficit to grow to as many as 16. The Panthers' offense never got fully on track down the stretch, allowing the Lady Tigers to pull away.

Top Performances:
Rosenthal led the Panthers with 19 points, five boards, five steals and three assists. Tiff. Tullis added 11 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. Paul scored eight points.

Next Up:
