BOX SCORE

PRAIRIE VIEW – Prairie View A&M women's basketball (1-7, 0-5 SWAC) fell in heartbreaking fashion to Grambling State (4-4, 3-1 SWAC) 65-64 during Southwestern Athletic Conference action Monday evening at the Baby Dome.

How it Happened:
With PVAMU up 52-39 entering the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers pulled within one possession of the Panthers thanks to a 15-4 run led by Candace Parramore and Jasmine Forte. Diana Rosenthal then knocked down a trey and cashed in on a steal with an easy lay-up to spark a 7-0 Panther surge that increased the lead back to nine. Grambling responded with six straight points to pull within three down the stretch, and after a free throw from TaMiracle Taylor, Alexus Holt scored from close to make it 64-62 with 32.5 ticks left.

Then, Grambling State's Camryn London hit a corner three-point to give the Lady Tigers their first lead of the game with 4.7 seconds left. Kennedi Heard appeared to make the game-winning basket at the buzzer, but the shot was waived off upon further review.

Early on, it appeared the Panthers would run away with it as their defense harassed Grambling State early and often, and the Panthers roared out of the gate with a 13-2 run behind the efforts of Kennedy Paul. Paul and Heard continued to assert themselves on the offensive end through the second quarter as the Panthers took a 40-26 advantage into the lockers. The Panthers' lead grew to as many as 15 before the Panthers faltered in the fourth quarter.

Top Performances:
Paul led PVAMU with 18 points, seven rebounds and a pair of assists. Heard scored 15 points. Rosenthal added nine points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Parramore led Grambling with 17 points. Justice Coleman posted 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Holt chipped in 14 points and four rebounds.
