PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M men's tennis team dropped a pair of 6-1 decisions Thursday afternoon to Lamar at the PVAMU Tennis Complex.

Notable Results: 
Prairie View A&M's Jorge Juarez Caballero continued to build on recent success, picking up a pair of singles win during the fray. He bested Axel Vila Antuna 7-5, 6-6, 1-0 during the teams' first match and followed with a 6-3, 6-3 victory during the second match of the day.

Caballero and Juan Malham Viada dropped a competitive 6-4 decision in the No. 1 tandem match as Lamar picked up the doubles point. Rodrigo Yoshikata and Kevin Ugarteche fell 6-3 in the No. 2 doubles match, and Jadyn Boone and Caleb Eaton were unable to get going during a 6-1 loss in the No. 3 doubles match.

In other singles matches during the first half of the doubleheader, Viada fell 6-3, 7-5 in the No. 2 singles match, and Yoshikata was unable to complete a comeback, dropping the No. 3 singles match 6-0, 4-6, 6-4. Ugarteche was bested 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles match, and Adrian Blackwell faltered 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 5 match. Boone stumbled in the No. 6 match 6-1, 6-0.

In match two, Caballero and Viada dropped a hard-fought 7-6 contest during doubles play. Lamar went on to clinch the doubles point as Ugarteche and Yoshikata fell 6-4, and Blackwell and Boone dropped a 6-3 decision.

In the second set of singles contests, Viada fell 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles match. Yoshikata dropped a 6-2, 6-1 match in the No. 3 singles battle, Ugarteche was upended 6-2, 7-6 in the No. 4 matchup. Boone (6-1, 6-2) and Blackwell (6-2, 6-2) were defeated in the No. 5 and 6 matches, respectively, clinching the match for Lamar.
