Sophomore Kennedi Heard has developed into a legitimate sharpshooter for the Panthers, knocking down 40 percent of her tries beyond the arc while averaging 9.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
- Selected to finish sixth in the SWAC preseason poll, Alabama State has been a surprise team in the conference, tied atop the standings with a 5-1 record with Jackson State, against whom the Lady Hornets have the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Panthers must slow an impressive trio in Ayana Emmanuel (team-best 17.2 PPG), reigning SWAC Player of the Week Shmya Ward (17.0 PPG, 10.3 RPG) and Jayla Crawford (10.8 PPG).
