Football Game Time Change vs. Bethune-Cookman

PRAIRIE VIEW – For fans that may be traveling to Daytona Beach, Fla., this weekend for the Prairie View A&M versus Bethune Cookman football game, that contest time is now scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET kick off instead of the original scheduled time of  3 p.m.

The Panthers will look to carry on their winning momentum in conference play to improve their SWAC record of 3-0 and 4-1 overall.  The Wildcats currently are sitting with a 0-6 overall record and are 0-3 in conference play.

Prairie View A&M is coming off of a bye week with their last game on Thursday night, Sept. 30  with a contest against the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, where they defeated the Golden Lions 27-17. 

Bethune lost their last contest after facing the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State, 20-14 this past weekend for their homecoming game.

On the ground the Panthers are led by graduate transfer running back Lyndemian Brooks, who is averaging 61 yards per game with a total of 244 net yards on 39 attempts.  Graduate transfer quarterback Jawon Pass leads the team in the air posting 256.2 yards per contest, going 95-154-5 and a total of 1,281 yards to include eight TD's.  Senior Antonio Mullins leads all receivers after playing in all five contest this season.  He has a total of 318 catching yard and is averaging 13.25 yards per contest to include two TD's.

Safety senior Drake Cheatum leads the Panthers on the defensive side of the ball, with a total of 34 tackles (17 solo, 17 assisted), 2.5-15 tackle for loss/yards, and two break ups.  Cheatum is not alone when it comes to the third top ranked defense in the conference and 97th ranked in the FCS.  He is joined by seniors Tre'Shaud Smith and Darius Campbell.  Smith has a total of 31 tackles (16 solo, 15 assisted) with 2.5-5 TFL-yards, and one break up on the season.

Campbell is ranked third in the conference with eight pass break ups averaging 1.40 per game.  He is third on the team with a total of 23 tackles (15 solo, 8 assisted), 5.5-9 TFL-yards, and one fumble return.

As a team the Panthers are ranked 32 in the FCS, and in the SWAC they are second in offense with a total 2,198 yards (919 rushing, 1279 passing) on 381 plays averaging 5.8 per play and 439.6 yards per game.  Defensively the team is ranked third in the conference after five games, allowing 493 rushing yards, 856 passing and a total of 1,349 total yards thus far this season.  They have allowed opponents 269 yards per game.

The Wildcats are led by Que'Shaun Byrd in rushing.  He is eighth in the SWAC with a total of 300 yards on 48 attempts, averaging 60.0 yards per game and three TD's.  Shannon Patrick leads hurlers for Bethune after six games Patrick is 84-150-6 with six TD's averaging 157 yards per game.

Kemari Averett is the top wide out for the Wildcats with 29 receptions on 542 yards for five TD's.  Averett is averaging 90.3 yards per game.

On the defensive side of the ball, Untareo Johnson is the top tackler in the conference with 53 tackles (31 solo, 22 assisted).  Omari Hill-Robinson leads Bethune as the top defender posting seven break ups with one INT.
