TALLAHASSE, Fla. - During the mini cluster the Prairie View A&M volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win over the Bethune Cookman Wildcats on Monday, winning by the scores of 25-17, 27-25, 15-25, and 26-24.
On the opening day of play on Sunday morning the Lady Panthers fell to Florida A&M 3-0, by the scores of 25-9, 25-15 and 25-22. Later, that afternoon PVAMU dropped a match to the Alabama State Lady Hornets 3-0 by the scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-19.
Game 1 (Sunday, Oct. 9) vs. Florida A&M
In their first match on Sunday, the Lady Panthers dropped a 3-0 decision to host team Florida A&M.
The Lady Panthers offense was led by junior middle blocker
Kimira Coffee with nine kills on 26 swings, hitting a .231% clip.
Junior
Neema Davies led the back line with seven digs. Freshman
Amina Attra dished out seven of PV's 18 assist, while junior
Jakarta Hope posted six assist.Â
Game 2 (Sunday, Oct. 9) vs. Alabama State
The Lady Panthers faced off with the Alabama State Lady Hornets for game two of the day falling 3-0.Â
Coffee led the charge on the offense for the Lady Panthers surpassing her career high of 12 kills on 34 swings. She also had two service aces and one block assist.Â
Freshman
Kiersten Atkinson had six kills on 11 swings, and also posted two block assists and one dig, while freshman
Caiya Artis led the team with a season/career high of 11 digs. Sophomore
Miyuki Johnson contributed 10 digs and Hope dished out 13 assist.
Game 3 (Monday, Oct. 10 vs. Bethune-Cookman
In the final contest of the mini cluster, the Lady Panthers faced the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats defeating them 3-1 for the first win of the season.
PVAMU was offensively led by Coffee as she also posted a career high of 20 kills on 49 swings, delivered four service aces, and had three block assist. Junior
Autumn Dowell had 13 kills on 28 swings and three block assist. Atkinson contributed 11 kills on 19 swings for a .474 clip. She also had three block assists with three digs. Artis had another career high game of 14 digs. Hope dished out a team and season high of 35 assists along with 11 digs.

The Lady Panthers will return to Texas for matchup against Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas on Thursday, October 14 for a 6 p.m. first serve.
