PRAIRIE VIEW – A walk in the park it was not, but the Prairie View A&M came through in the clutch wining 3-0 for their second Southwestern Conference victory of the season by the scores of 25-19, 25-20, 29-27.
"It's exciting watching the team bring it all together after the way played Florida A&M", said head PVAMU volleyball coach
TaCho Tyler. "Even with two starters out everyone stepped up, came with the hustle and drive and started winning."
How it Happened:
PVAMU dominated the first set early on as they built 10-4 lead. Grambling State managed to get within three of the Lady Panthers at 20-17, but that was as close as they would get as PV outscored GSU 5-3 to take the set 25-19.
The Lady Panthers' momentum went into set two as PV took a quick 12-8 lead, never looking back to take this set 25-20.
The third set remained close as both teams were knotted at 15 apiece. The Lady Panthers went for the knockout as they tallied four unanswered points to take a 19-15 lead, but the fight didn't end there as the Lady Tigers came back and rallied to a 23-23 tie. From this point it could have been anyone's set, but neither team wanted to relinquish the lead. Prairie View would go on to finish the set 29-27 to secure its second SWAC victory.
Post-Game Notes:
Prairie View A&M will host the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff with the first serve set for 6 p.m. at the William J. Nicks Building.
