PINE BLUFF, Ark. - Taking on the Golden Lions of UAPB, the Lady Panthers weren't able to get into a rhythm, falling in straight sets, Monday night in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
The Lady Panthers fell 9-25 to open things up followed by a close 24-26 set that didn't go their way, ultimately losing out 15-25 in the third.
How it Happened:
PVAMU opened the first set to a fairly even contest down 3-5 at one point in the opening frame. From there UAPB outscored the Lady Panthers 20-6 the rest of the way to a 25-9 final in the first set.
The next set proved more of a contest between the two teams as they traded 17 ties/lead changes in the second. Up 23-16, the Golden Lions scored six unanswered points get within one of PV. A
Malia Viernes kill extended the Lady Panthers lead by two, 24-22, but UAPB closed out with a 4-0 run to steal the frame two, 26-24.
The third set once again saw both teams matched up evenly, tied at 10 apiece, before two separate runs of 6 and 7 consecutive points saw the Golden Lions take the final set and the match, 25-15.
