BOX SCORE

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team (3-11, 2-9 SWAC) fell 77-53 to Alabama State during Southwestern Athletic Conference action Monday evening in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

How it Happened:
Behind the efforts of Diana Rosenthal and Kennedy Paul, the Panthers started quickly to gain the upper hand over the Lady Hornets. Prairie View A&M opened with a 16-9 lead, but Alabama State managed to close within 18-15 as the first quarter ended.

However, the Panthers began to fade as the game progressed. Up 27-24 midway through the second quarter, Prairie View A&M found itself on the wrong end of a 15-4 run. Despite a Kennedi Heard three-pointer in the closing seconds of the half, the Panthers found themselves down 39-30 at the break. The Lady Hornets went on to outscore Prairie View A&M 22-5 in the third quarter, resulting in a deficit too large to overcome the rest of the way.

Key Stats:
Heard led PVAMU with 16 points. Rosenthal scored 12 points – eight in the first quarter. Paul added 12 points.

Jayla Crawford led Alabama State with 21 points.
