- This is a reschedule of what initially stood as the teams' season opener before damage to the Cotton Bowl from the recent winter storm in the state forced adjustments.

- Storey Jackson enters the game as the nation's leading tackler following an effort of 17 tackles – four for loss – and a fumble recovery. As a team, the Panthers made 17 tackles for loss, a mark that ranks No. 1 in the country.

- The Panthers seek their third-straight win over Grambling State in the State Fair Classic. A victory would mark the first time since 2011-13 that the Panthers have won three straight over the Tigers in this series.

- Sophomore wide out Colbey Washington had his finest game as a Panther versus Texas Southern, making five grabs for 57 yards. Coming into the contest, Washington had just one reception recorded in his career.

Scouting Grambling:
- Grambling State is led by dual-threat quarterback Geremy Hickbottom, who caused a lot of headaches for Jackson State as he accounted for 235 yards passing with a score while running for 81 yards and another score. Dorrell James and Darrell Clark are Hickbottom's favorite targets statistically, with the duo combining for 14 grabs and 162 yards.
