How it Happened:
After opening up an 8-4 lead to begin the match, the Lady Panthers continued to stay ahead as they benefited from an overwhelming start by Tamiara Armstrong. Grambling pulled within seven but sent a serve out of play to wrap up the first frame for the Lady Panthers.
In a hotly-contested second set, the Lady Panthers leaned on Melanie Arenas and Victoria Pearson, and the seniors came through with several kills to keep PVAMU in it. Grambling managed to pull ahead 20-18, but kills from Pearson and Armstrong tied the game. From there, Thaynara Godoi helped power a 5-1 flourish that allowed PVAMU to go ahead two sets to nil.
A sluggish start to set three allowed Grambling State to pull ahead 10-6 and led by as many as five with a 15-10 lead. However, the Lady Panthers stormed ahead as Arenas helped power a 13-4 run that resulted in a 23-19 lead. The Lady Panthers closed it out with monster kills from Pearson and a service ace from Miriam Cardoner.
