BOX SCORE PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M volleyball team (8-2, 7-1) took down Texas Southern in straight sets during Southwestern Athletic Conference action Monday night at the Baby Dome. Set scores were 25-12, 25-21, 25-21.

How it Happened:
The Lady Panthers started quickly, opening the match on an 8-3 run. Though Texas Southern rebounded to stay in striking distance momentarily, Prairie View A&M began to pull away behind tough net defense at the point of attack as well as massive spikes from Tamaira Armstrong and Victoria Pearson. After a 9-0 run pushed the lead to 21-9, the Lady Panthers cruised the rest of the first set to go ahead 1-0.

Prairie View A&M refused to let up as the second frame began, opening it just as they did the first set. Despite a late charge from Texas Southern, the early advantage held strong thanks in part to inconsistent play by the opposition as the Panthers went ahead 2-0.

The Panthers were a touch slow out of the gate to begin set three, allowing the Lady Tigers to get into the driver's set early. Prairie View A&M tied the game thanks to a trio of miscues by Texas Southern but wasn't quite able to overtake the Lady Tigers until it mattered most, as kills from Armstrong and Thaynara Godoi broke a 21-21 tie and allowed the Panthers to pull away late.
