Bowling Closes Out Colonial Lanes Classic on a Good Note

HARAHAN, La. – On the final day of the Colonial Lanes Classic the Prairie View A&M University bowling team ended on a high note to close out the classic.

""It was good for the team to finish on a good note winning our last match on Sunday," head PVAMU bowling coach Glenn White said.  This was certainly a fact-finding mission this weekend. I was able to evaluate where individuals were in their progression and what roles they may play in the line-up. Hopefully it opened their eyes to see how much harder they have to work to improve. We are definitely a work in progress but I believe we have some good to take from this tournament that will help us through the season."

Although the team finished in 11th place overall, they completed the weekend with a total pin fall of 8,936 and a 3-6 overall record.  Senior Stephanie Vasquez led the Lady Panthers with a 12th  place finish and a total pin-fall of 993.

PVAMU completed their weekend on Sunday in the championship bracket round falling to No. 24 ranked Lincoln Memorial 3-2 (201-179, 173-177, 201-191, 223-159, 172-161).  Moving to the second round the fell to SWAC member school Southern 4-0 (147-142, 157-155, 199-136, 210-149).  The Lady Panthers closed the day out with a win over SWAC opponent Alabama A&M 4-1 (184-173, 187-162, 190-188, 173-190, 157-148).

The Lady Panthers will return to action for a reboot, when they face Texas Southern in an exhibition match on Oct. 22 with a 10 a.m. first roll.
