PRAIRIE VIEW - Saturday's game will tell the tale as the Prairie View A&M Panthers host the Jaguars of Southern University on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022 for a 4 p.m. kickoff inside the Panther Stadium of Blackshear Field.

The Panthers will seek to keep pace in the Southwestern Athletic Conference as PVAMU enters the game 3-2 overall and are 3-0 in the SWAC.  Southern has a 2-2 overall record and are 1-1 in league play.

The series does not fare well as the Jaguars holds a 56-28-3 lead over the Panthers.  Southern has won the last four out of five contest dating back to 2015.

However, recent history will put a little charge in the Panthers, who defeated Grambling State 34-14 in the annual State Fair Classic.  Southern won its game versus Arkansas Pine Bluff with a crushing 59-3 victory.

The game will feature two high-powered defenses led by junior Tariq Mulmore of Prairie View A&M who has 34 stops and is averaging 6.8 tackles a game and is ranked fifth in the SWAC.  Junior Keyshawn Johnson is eighth in the conference with 33 tackles and two sacks averaging 6.6 tackles per game.

Senior Trazon Connley leads the Panthers offense at the quarterback position ranking him ninth in the conference with a 45-79-3 pass efficiency.  The Panthers ground game features Ahmad Antoine, who ranks third in the conference with four career rushing touchdowns.  He is totaling 396 rushing yards, while averaging 79.2 yards per contest.  Connley, is ranked eighth with 232 rushing yards, averaging 58.0 per game.
