, the Southern University Jaguars rode their opportunities to a 44-13 Southwestern Athletic Conference victory Saturday afternoon in Panther Stadium.
The Panthers, which had come into today's game undefeated in SWAC play, saw their streak come to an end as their record dropped to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in league.
How it Happened:
- After taking a 10-7 lead in the first quarter, Southern quickly closed the gap knotting the game at 10, before the Panthers added a final half time score taking a 13-10 lead into half time.
- Southern game out in the third quarter scoring 14 unanswered points to take a 24-13 lead going into the final quarter.
- The Panthers couldn't get a break as the final score came on a 56-yard interception return for a touchdown, as the Jags took a final lead of 45-13 and the win.
- Trazon Connley, was 16-for-28 for a 160 yards passing and one touchdown. He threw one interception and was sacked three times. Ahmad Antoine led PV's ground game with 59 yards on 10 carries.
- Dejuan Lewis headlined the defense with a career-high eight tackles.

The Panthers will take a week off before returning to play in Beaumont, Texas to face the Lamar Cardinals for their final non-conference game of the season on Oct. 22, 2022 for a 4 p.m. start.
