PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M softball team dug themselves into a hole early and was unable to come back as the dropped a 16-4 non-conference match up to Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday afternoon.
How it Happened:
- Prairie View A&M opened the game by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning, with Biviana Figueroa hitting a 2 RBI homer to left center. SFA scored seven in the top of the second to take a 7-2 lead.
- Karina Cisneros hit a homer over the right center fielders head for the Lady Panthers second homer of the game, making the score 7-3. The score held until the fourth when Stephen F. Austin two consecutive singles and a 2 RBI homer to increase the lead to 11-3.
- The Lady Jacks added five more runs in the top of the fifth to take a 16-3 lead. The Lady Panthers continued to struggle on offense, but Figueroa found one last bright spot as she hit a double to right center scoring Natalie McLennan. The Lady Panthers were unable to convert, for a final 16-4 score.
- Cailin Massey (6-11) took the loss, allowing six runs and five hits.
Up next for the Lady Panthers as they travel to Lorman, Miss. for SWAC action Friday, April 22 for a three game series. The first pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
