NEW ORLEANS, La. – Prairie View A&M's Gabrielle Leslie was named SWAC women's Tennis Freshman of the Year, while her teammate Victoria Fuenmayor Castillo was tabbed as SWAC women's Tennis Player of the Year announced by the Southwestern Athletic Conference on Friday.
 
The freshman completed her season with an undefeated record of 6-0 in conference play.  Leslie was also named to the #1 singles position All-Conference First team.
 
Castillo a junior at Prairie View completed an impressive season of conference play concluding the year with an undefeated record of 8-0. She was also named to the women's tennis All-Conference First Team at the #2 singles position.

With the tournament starting today (Friday) the #3 Lady Panthers have already advanced to the semifinal rounds after defeating #5 Alcorn State 4-3.  The will continue play on Saturday, April 23 for a 9 a.m. first serve when they face the Alabama State Lady Hornets

The winners of Saturday's match-ups will clinch berths in the 2022 SWAC Women's Tennis Tournament Championship match.  All tournament matches are currently being held at the Pepsi Center with complimentary admission for all event attendees.
