BOX SCORE ABILENE, Texas – A strong start for the Prairie View A&M University Panthers wasn't enough to hold off the Abilene Christian Wildcats as they came back to take a 21-13 win over PVAMU Saturday night inside the Wildcat Stadium.
How it Happened:
The Panthers opened the first quarter on a 26 yard touchdown score from red-shirt junior quarterback
Trazon Connley to red-shirt senior wide receiver
Jailon Howard with 12:18 still left to play in the first quarter.
PVAMU's defense held off the Wildcats until ACU struck from15 yards out to tie the score at 7-7 with 2:08 left in the first.
PVAMU placed three more points on the board as senior field goal kicker
Luis Reyes struck from 46 yards out to put the Panthers up 10-7 with 11:17 still left in the second quarter. With less than a second left on the clock the field goal squad came out again to hit a 47 yard field goal taking a 13-7 lead going into the half.
A scoreless third quarter for both teams and a 13-7 lead by the Panthers gave a light of ray as both teams used their defensive scheme going into the fourth quarter.
The momentum shifted as ACU took an eight point lead, after scoring 14 unanswered fourth quarter points. The Panthers continued to stay cold on the offense, while defense was going worn from the Wildcats holding the majority of possession. Abilene sealed the deal taking a 21-13 win over the Panthers.
