BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas – The Lady Panthers volleyball team rebounded from Tuesday's match and picked up their first win of the 2022 season. PVAMU soared to a 3-0 sweep over Huston Tillotson on their home court Wednesday night. The set scores were 25-18, 25-10, 25-13.
"It feels good to get a win," Head Volleyball Coach
TaCho Tyler said. "The team morale is high right now. We had a balanced offensive and defensive effort from everyone so it was truly a team victory."
The Lady Panthers offense hit a .500 clip for the match. In the first set, PVAMU swung a .568, tallying 12 kills on 17 total attacks, only recording two errors as a team.
Freshman outside hitter
Kylee Owens turned in a 17 kill performance and recorded a season best three errors averaging a .471 attack percentage. Freshman right side hitter
Leila Smalls recorded a season best of 13 kills in the match, hitting for a .385 average.
The Lady Panthers were able to control the pace of the game from behind the service line acing the Lady Rams 12 times. Owens dished out a match high of four aces. Senior setter
Jakarta Hope shared time with freshman setter
Trinity Williams as they dished out 14 and 13 assists respectively. Hope also had three aces, and two digs.
PVAMU will return to action on Sept. 9 in the UTRGV tri-match when they travel to Edinburg, Texas . They are set to face the University of Montana at 9 a.m. and they match up with host team UTRGV on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., before they head to Houston Baptist for a single match against Houston Baptist on Tuesday, Sept. 13 for a 6:30 p.m. first serve.
