HARAHAN, La. – The Prairie View A&M University bowling team competed on the first day of the Colonial Lanes Classic hosted by Tulane, on Friday with a strong 3-2 finish through five baker matches.
PVAMU went up against No. 8 ranked Sam Houston State for their opening match falling to the Bearkats 1030-925. The Lady Panthers dropped their second match of the day to No. 10 ranked La. Tech by the score of 1,053 to 832
In PVAMU's final matches, they bounced back with wins over Southwestern Athletic Conference foes Texas Southern (897-860), and Alabama A&M (815-782). Then ending the day against No. 5 ranked Stephen F. Austin edging by the Ladyjacks with an 804-793 margin.
The team will return to the lanes for day two of the Colonial Lanes Classic picking up tomorrow at 8:55 a.m. from Colonial Lanes for traditional play versus SWAC foe Jackson State. They will follow that match against Oklahoma Christian, the host team #22 ranked Tulane. The Lady Panthers will close out the day for final bracket rankings against Florida A&M and Emmanuel University.
