PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --Junior Jerrica Rojas was dealing on Saturday, tossing a three-hit shutout to lead the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers past the Texas Southern Lady Tigers 5-0.

Rojas (7-1) went the distance for Prairie View A&M (22-16, 18-1), giving up three hits, walking none and striking out seven.

Sophomore Aerin Talley led the way offensively for the Lady Panthers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run and two RBI. Sophomore Rayna Lewis put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Junior Biviana Figueroa also helped out, going 3-for-3 for Prairie View A&M with a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Panthers took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from Lewis, scoring freshman Mia Nunez from third base.

The Lady Panthers then tacked on runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, with their biggest output coming in the fifth when they scored two times. Talley's run-scoring single highlighted the two-run frame.

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texasw --The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers got three hits from sophomore Rayna Lewis in an 8-3 victory against the Texas Southern Lady Tigers Saturday.

Sophomore Cailin Massey (9-5) started in the circle and picked up the win for Prairie View A&M (23-16, 19-1). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on seven hits, allowing three walks and striking out six.

In addition to her three hits, Lewis had a home run and two RBI to lead the Lady Panthers. Freshman Mia Nunez furnished a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Junior Jaylyn Davis also chipped in for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a home run and two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Panthers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the fourth inning. Lewis came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board.

The Lady Panthers lost the lead they built in the fourth, but got back on the board in the fifth trailing 3-1. Prairie View A&M scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run homer from Lewis, which brought the Lady Panthers lead to 4-3.

Prairie View A&M held Texas Southern without a run before expanding their lead to 8-3 the following inning. The Lady Panthers hit two home runs in the inning on the way to scoring four runs. The score remained 8-3 for the rest of the game, as Prairie View A&M coasted to the win.
