Arlington, TX – The Prairie View A&M University Women's Bowling team went the distance with CIAA Champions Fayetteville State, to advance to the second round of the NCAA Bowling Arlington Regionals.  The Lady Panthers will face No. 1 seed McKendree at the International Training and Research Center (ITRC) with the 2-1 win.

"The team did a great job of competing and managing their emotions in the match today," said head PVAMU Bowling Coach Glenn White. "Fayetteville bowled well and pushed us throughout the match but we were able to make some lane adjustments and ball changes that pulled us through. We're looking forward to moving into the four-team regional play now. It will be a tall order going against the number-one team in the country. We'll give it our best. "

The teams opened with the five-person team match, as the Lady Panthers owned the win with a score of 936-898.  Sophomore Amani Moore bowled a team-high 200, while SWAC MVP Stephanie Vasquez bowled a 194.  Sophomore Victoria Cobos bowled a 191 assisting the Lady Panthers to the win.

In the first of the two five-game baker match PVAMU fell 998-896, forcing the teams to a tiebreaker match.  The Lady Panthers struck first taking games one and two (219-194, 203-173).  Fayetteville State took game three 187-171.  PVAMU bounced back with a 209-173 score and finally captured game five 168-163 for the 4-1 Bakers win.

Prairie View will face McKendree for a 9 am match at the ITRC Bowling Center in Arlington, Texas.
