Rojas and Elizarraras combine for shutout in Prairie View A&M's 1-0 victory against Texas Southern

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --Senior Jerrica Rojas and junior Halley Elizarraras combined to throw a shutout on Saturday as the Prairie View A&M Panthers blanked the Texas Southern Tigers 1-0, taking the three-game series.

Rojas (3-2) started and picked up the win for Prairie View A&M (16-14, 11-0), going 4.1 shutout innings while giving up seven hits, walking two, and striking out one. Elizarraras was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going 2.2 shutout innings, allowing three hits, walking two, and striking out four.

Offensively, the Panthers were led by senior Jaylyn Davis, who went 1-for-3 on the day with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first and only time in the inning. Prairie View A&M got an RBI single from Davis, scoring senior Destinee Smith from second base.
