PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --Senior Breanna Reyna was dealing on Friday, throwing a shutout to lead the Prairie View A&M Panthers over the UAPB Lady Lions 9-0.
Reyna (11-5) went the distance for Prairie View A&M (25-17, 20-1), giving up nine hits, walking none and striking out three.
Offensively, the Panthers were led by senior Jaylyn Davis, who went 2-for-3 on the day with four RBI. Junior Aerin Talley put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. Junior Hannah Garza also contributed for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Prairie View A&M scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Garza.
The Panthers then tacked on runs in the second and third innings, with their biggest output coming in the third when they scored four times. The big hit in that inning was a one-run single off the bat of Davis.
