PRAIRIE VIEW, TX --Iyonna Sherwood notched 13 kills with a .545 hitting percentage to help carry the Prairie View A&M volleyball team to a five-set win (25-17, 29-31, 23-25, 25-19, 15-13) against the Jackson State Lady Tigers Sunday at home at Baby Dome.
The conference victory improved Prairie View A&M's record to 7-10 overall and 4-0 in SWAC play.
The Lady Panthers offense was paced by D'Mya Hill, who finished with 20 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .405. Kylee Owens added 18 and Sherwood chipped in with 13 as part of a Prairie View A&M attack that had four players with double-digit kills. got 19 digs from Leila Smalls to lead them defensively.

SET 1 | The Lady Panthers won the first point and never looked back to secure the first set 25-17. Prairie View A&M led by nine points at 20-11 before finishing off the set.
SET 2 | Prairie View A&M dropped the second set 31-29 to tie the match 1-1. The Lady Panthers dropped the second set despite a solid performance on the attacking end. Prairie View A&M put together a .342 attack percentage with 17 kills in the set loss.
SET 3 | Prairie View A&M then lost their second set in a row, falling behind in the match two sets to one. The Lady Panthers couldn't hang on in a back-and-forth battle, losing 25-23 in a set that featured 11 lead changes and was tied 16 times. Neither team had a lead of more than three points along the way.
SET 4 | Prairie View A&M broke their two set losing streak and forced a fifth set with a 25-19 victory in set number four. The Lady Panthers scored first and never trailed in the set to earn the victory. Prairie View A&M opened up as much as a nine point lead at 19-10 before finishing off the stanza, totaling 15 kills in the process. Prairie View A&M also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set.
SET 5 | Prairie View A&M battled back from down 2-1 to win the next two sets, culminating in a 15-13 fifth-set victory, and grab the 3-2 win. The Lady Panthers took the lead for good at 10-9 in a set that showcased four lead changes before the Lady Panthers took over the lead.
