Lady Panthers Basketball Faces Challenging Outcome Against the Lamar Cardinals

The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers faced a tough opponent in the Lamar University Cardinals on Wednesday evening, at Neches Arena at the Montagne Center in Beaumont, TX. The non-league regular season basketball game ended with the Lady Panthers falling to the Cardinals with a final score of 59-72.

The first period set the tone with Lamar University quickly establishing a lead, ending the period with 31-13. Despite a sharp increase in performance in the second period by Prairie View, fueled by significant contributions from Crystal Schultz who scored key three-pointers, and better defense, the halftime score was still a close Lamar 37, Prairie View 35. The third period saw a brief lead change in favor of the Lady Panthers after Schultz hit an effective three-pointer. However, Lamar regained control by the end of the period with a score of 51-45.

Entering the final period, Prairie View A&M attempted a comeback with CJ Wilson hitting successful three-pointers. Despite late game heroics from Schultz, the Lady Panthers couldn't bridge the gap, culminating in a 72-59 loss. Key contributions came from Schultz with 27 points and Wilson who not only scored 21 points but also led with 5 assists and 9 rebounds. Their efforts were complemented by defensive plays including three steals by Marckalia Celestine.
