JACKSON, Miss. – The stage is officially set for Prairie View A&M Football as the Panthers traveled to Jackson, Mississippi, for the 2025 SWAC Football Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 6 at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT, with the West Division champion Panthers meeting the East Division champion Jackson State Tigers for the conference crown.
Prairie View A&M enters championship week with confidence and momentum after closing the regular season in dominant fashion. The Panthers rolled past Mississippi Valley State 59–6 on Nov. 22, capping a strong finish to their first season under first year head coach Tremaine Jackson.
In the win over MVSU, the Panthers showcased their balanced and explosive offense as seven different players scored touchdowns. Quarterback Cameron Peters continued his efficient play, throwing for 234 yards and two touchdowns while adding another score on the ground. Freshman running back Chase Bingmon powered the rushing attack with two touchdowns, helping PVAMU amass more than 500 total yards of offense. Defensively, Prairie View was dominant, holding the Delta Devils to just six points and limiting them to minimal yardage throughout the contest.
Now, with a 9–3 overall record and a 7–1 mark in SWAC play, Prairie View sets its sights on the program's first conference title since 2009.
Jackson State (9–2, 7–1 SWAC) clinched the East Division after a hard-fought win over Alcorn State and brings a physical, run-heavy offensive identity into the championship matchup. The Tigers have leaned on a powerful ground attack all season, complemented by timely quarterback play and a defense that has excelled in late-game situations.
Saturday's title game will feature strength vs. strength, as Prairie View's balanced offense and improving defensive unit prepare for their toughest challenge of the year. The Panthers' ability to mix the pass and run — paired with a disciplined defensive approach — will be key in countering JSU's physicality and home-field advantage.
With both teams eyeing a berth in the Celebration Bowl, the 2025 SWAC Championship presents Prairie View A&M with an opportunity to cap an impressive season and bring home the conference crown.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT on Saturday in Jackson, Mississippi.
